Our next theme is “bots” – – and everything around bots including, why do they always seem to have female voices? The future of computing revolves around these three actors: humans, digital assistants, and bots. Chatbots will work as go-betweens between systems and people.

Microsoft wants to help everyone build smart bots with its own digital assistant Cortana. Microsoft isn’t alone in exploring this territory, consider Amazon’s Alexa and Apple’s Siri. They are introducing people to the idea that it’s quicker to talk with your computer than use your mouse, keyboard or touch interface. Even Facebook is getting into the game with M, it’s own digital assistant that lives in messenger.

This event is not going to be about people versus machines, it’s going to be about people WITH machines. We will have five expert panelists including Bruce Weed, developer advocate for the East Coast for IBM, David Sorin, Venture Capital, McCarter & English and Heather Shapiro, Microsoft Bots Expert, Tom Eck, CTO of Industry Platforms at IBM and Howie Schwartz, CEO of Crowded.com
